Christmas Eve Eve

We had 3 different homes to celebrate Christmas so we decided to celebrate Christmas Eve Eve at Mom & John's, Christmas Eve at Dad's and then Christmas Day at Melea's house.  It was a full 3 days and so much fun!  Christmas Eve Eve we took pictures but didn't take too many pictures the other times as we were mostly in comfy clothes. We had fun doing our first year of $50 nice gift/white elephant and tried out a new game - Speak Out which left everyone in tears they were laughing so hard.

Gingerbread Man & House

Well, I haven't made a gingerbread man or house since I was a little girl.  My sister and I thought it would be fun to attempt to make one.  So, my sister and I went to my mom's house before Christmas and attempted using a Gingerbread Kit.  Let's just say it looks much harder than it is. It doesn't look that great but we had fun trying!

The weather outside is frightful...

Well, the weather in NC in December can't make up its mind.  We have had highs ranging from 80s to 40s in just a few short weeks.  This past weekend we had a snowy, rainy, sleety mix on Friday and Saturday.  Luckily, none of it was sticking to the ground or roads so it was fine to drive around but still scary at night when it was pitch black.

Friday: I had plans to go to Julie's house for girls night but we decided it was best to cancel because of the weather.  So instead, I stayed in with Hamilton and Keith and we watched Christmas movies and drank Christmas Ale.

Saturday: We had a ton of errands to run and did one of our traditions.  We love to go get our rings cleaned at Diamonds Direct, walk around the mall, people watch, see the pretty Christmas decor and go to Aunite Anne's to get pretzels. We had so much FUN!

Eating Christmas Crunch
Sunday: Melea (MIL) invited my sister, and my mom to come over for brunch and then go shopping at a store not far from her called DeWayne&…

Touring a Girl Boss Home

Last night, my bestie and I toured a beautiful home in downtown Raleigh.  The Moon & Lola founder, Kelly Shatat opened her beautiful home and I am obsessed with every corner.  As you walk up Saint Mary's Street it so inviting and happy! I love how she incorporated her love of pink and happiness in every room.

Celebrating Baby Hughes

Our friends, David & Jessica are expecting their first child next month - January 2018 and we couldn't be more excited for them.  They had a co-ed shower to celebrate this bundle of joy.  We can't wait to meet baby hughes and find out if its a boy or a girl.

Saturday: We went to the co-ed shower hosted by Carolyn and then headed to House of Hops for a few brews.

Black Friday

In years past, my sister and I would always wake up really early and hit the top sales and shop till we dropped.  This year, neither of us really needed to spend money so we decided to skip out on shopping.  My husband, needed a new shop wet/dry vac so we headed to Home Depot and we were surprised how few people were out and about shopping with us. Lucky for us, we were able to get what we needed and head out in under 1 hour.

Happy Turkey Day

My mom has always hosted the main holidays and provided a awesome table space complete with wonderful food.  Earlier this year, she decided that Jamie and I were old enough to start hosting one of the holidays - so I will host Easter, Jamie will host Thanksgiving and mom will host Christmas.

With that being said, this year, on Thanksgiving Day Jamie was heading to Rocky Mount to spend with her finance family and would host on Saturday.  Therefore, since, the rest of us would be available on Thursday, Keith and I decided to host the rest of the family.  Up until now - my father and mother would only get together for graduations and weddings since they divorced.  Well, times are changing and everyone came and not a single plate was broken.  My mom, stepdad, dad and mother in law all came and we had a great time.

Keith & I have not hosted a large party at our house before, and we had a lot of fun.  I gave everyone a turkey sugar cookie (which I didn't make) and a mini loaf of pum…

Vegas Strong

We went to Vegas 43 days after the horrific shooting that occurred. On the night of October 1, 2017, a gunman opened fire on a crowd of 22,000 concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada, leaving 58 people dead and 546 injured.  Our hearts go out to the families who lost loved ones that night.

Keith's Uncle Derrick was getting married to Kristi and they have been dating since 2012.  They picked November, 15, 2017 because that is 5 years to the date they met and figured why not get married in Vegas with our friends and family. Derrick goes to Vegas a couple times a year so when we arrived and found out we got an upgrade - we were pumped!

We explored the vegas strip, played slots, Keith bet on a few sports games and we had a great time visiting and catching up with the family.

The wedding was on Wednesday, so we all got ready and headed to the Terrace Gazebo in downtown Vegas.  It was a short and sweet ceremony followed by a nice reception.

NC Mountains

Keith and I headed to the North Carolina mountains for the weekend with 4 of our friends.  We had never been as a group, so looking forward to checking it out.

Friday: We left work a little early and headed to Boone for dinner at Lost Province Brewing Company.  We all meet here and had fun trying different beers and catching up.  The cabin was about 25 minutes away in Fleetwood, NC.  The roads leading up to the cabin were really narrow and scary but we made it.

Saturday: We had intentions of hiking and having a picnic outside, but mother nature had other plans.  So we made the most of it and walked around the cute downtown of West Jefferson and went to the Ashe County Cheese Outlet and walked around different shops. Later, we went to Boondocks Brewing Tap Room & Restaurant for lunch and drinks.  Later, that night we headed to Appalachian Mountain Brewery before dinner and then ate at Pepper's Restaurant in Boone, NC.

Sunday: Of course the weather was nice on quick drive home.  We…

Last Weekend in October

We didn't do much this weekend, but it was a weekend well spent together.  The weather is unclear on what to do and hasn't decided if it is going to be fall or stay warm.

Friday: We stayed in and ordered pizza.  I normally try and eat healthy but since I did good eating healthy this week, I decided we deserved to treat ourselves with P-I-Z-Z-A.

Saturday: We had scheduled to have family pictures so, obviously I had made a hair appointment to get a blow out and get my make-up professionally done.  We were going to include Hamilton is many of the photos in hopes to use one for our family Christmas card. I can't believe how good they turned out! Later, we headed to Lynwood to see some of the costumes (we didn't dress up) and have a couple adult beverages.

Sunday: We watched football all day - literally all day because the Cleveland Browns game was at 9:30am since they were playing in London. I did some errands with my mom and sister to help my mom spruce up her mantle in the …

Lauren & Scott BBQ

Keith's cousin Scott got married in Maine this summer on an intimate wedding on the water, the pictures were beautiful.  They had a BBQ party this past weekend in Seville, Ohio and we headed up to be part of the celebration.

It was a mini reunion and fun to see the whole family.  Most of the family lives in Ohio so it was nice to see everyone in one place.  The weather was amazing and we spent a lot of time outside on the nice deck.

NC State Fair

Keith and I try to attend the NC State Fair every year.  We usually go after work and walk around for a few hours trying all the good food and people watching of course.  This year did not disappoint! The weather was perfect, and I tried a pumpkin pie milkshake that came in a pumpkin - SOO CUTE!
